The story behind the name is rooted at the beginning of pandemic in 2020. March 19th to be precise. At this time, the owner (Dan Goss) was working for another restaurant (Downtown Grill and Brewery) in downtown Knoxville. The country was about to go on a mandatory shutdown. In fact, the world was. 

Dan went into work that day to furlough the team of over 110 employees. The reasoning was to get them in the system first so that aid could get to them faster. He wasn't scheduled that day but went in to take care of the team. As the day progressed, there were many regulars and team members that would approach to ask about the "plan". At this time, there really wasn't a plan; other than to take care of the team and see what the pandemic would lead to. However, Dan realized that he wasn't going anywhere too soon. He called his wife to let her know that he would be staying until close. 

Towards the end of the night he was approached by one of his team members. The young gentleman asked what they were supposed to do. What was going to happen to them? What was going to happen to everything? 

It wasn't long before there were other team members gathering and waiting for an answer. 

Dan didn't have sage advice, immediately. But, he looked at the young gentleman that had asked the questions that initiated this gathering. Dan realized he had to say something and then he remembered that he had given a little advice about a week or two ago. He was just going to build on it. 

That advice? Well, it involved a duck. 

Dan said, "We need to all be like ducks."

The gathering stared and blinked, and looks of "Where are you going with this?" surfaced. 

"If you look at a duck on the water and look at him above the water it looks in control. It's calm. It's smooth. It's in charge. In fact, it's chest is almost barreled out with confidence. However, if you look under the water, the feet of that duck are paddling like there's no tomorrow. That duck knows that it has to keep moving. If it wants to get to its destination it has to keep moving. We are all standing at Point A. We don't know what is going to happen along our journey but we will keep moving. And, we will do it together. We will be confident. We will be brave. We will be together. We will keep moving and in doing all of those things we will get from Point A to Point B. Rest assured, there will be a Point B after all of this is over." 

Thus began the first breath of Point B. 

By the next week, all restaurants were ordered to close. Dan and the rest of the "ducks" were out of work. Dan told the above story to some friends in his neighborhood while they socially distanced on chalk "islands" in a cul-de-sac. One of the neighbors said, "You should open your own restaurant. And, you should call it Point B." 

And, this led to more breath into Point B.
